Jocelyn Dominguez (FHS Class of 2025) has already settled in at Cal State LA and is officially on the “future teacher” track – because some Panthers don’t just take classes, they plan to run the classroom! She’s majoring in Urban Learning and told us she has jumped right into the College of Education lineup, including child development and an education-focused course that’s giving her a real taste of what it means to lead with patience (and maybe a little Panther determination). Our $1,000 award is helping her keep up with the not-so-small stuff – like very expensive books! And while she has heard the classic refrain that “$1000 isn’t enough to make a big impact,” Jocelyn calls it “an incredible start for any college freshman. I now have the chance to be the first in my family to graduate from a university without burdening my parents with expenses and without piling stress onto them.” Jocelyn thanked the Foundation for being part of a school community that supports higher education, and she signed off with a line we’re always happy to hear: “Once a panther, always a panther.” We think Panther Pride looks great on her!
