Franklin High School Educational Foundation

OUR CO-FOUNDER MORT TENNER HAS PASSED

Dear Board Members and Friends,

I am so sorry to share the news that Mort passed away June 22nd around 4 p.m. at the age of 92.  He just celebrated his birthday, June 10.

Mort served at Franklin for 17 years (1967 to 1984), the longest of any principal.  He was moved “downtown” to help the superintendent’s staff but really, he never left Franklin.  He was a co-founder of the Franklin Educational Foundation that began in July of 1993. It has awarded thousands of students financial support that includes $178,000 to156 seniors of the 2020 class. This legacy will live on for generations to come as now the children of so many of our fist generation families are also sending their children and grandchildren to college.

At this point of time, no celebration or memorial service has been planned.  We all understand how difficult this would be in light of our present covid19 “stay at home” situation.

For those who would like to send a card to Mary and the family, the home address is1155 Avonoak Terrace, Glendale, Ca. 91206.  Please feel free to forward this email of other faculty with which you may be in touch.

Sincerely,

Jack Wright  818-472-2552
