The Franklin High School Educational Foundation is delighted to recognize longtime donor Regina Stagg for the generous spirit she brings to our work. For the past decade, Ms. Stagg has reliably donated to the Foundation to help support our mission to empower Franklin High School graduating seniors to pursue higher educational goals by providing them with financial awards. As someone who has spent years cheering on Franklin students, she knows that the extra financial support can help ease their transition to college – whether it reduces their loan burdens, frees up time for them to focus on a demanding course, or simply sends them off to college with some emergency money in their pockets. Her steady commitment is the kind of behind-the-scenes boost that helps our students step forward with confidence.
This year, Ms. Stagg’s donation carried a special tribute using the Foundation’s dedication option. On her donation form, in the blank for “Donation Made in Honor Of:” she wrote in, “Mr. Cruz – hardest working Physics Teacher!” And in the blank for “Your Relationship to Honoree:” she simply put, “Admirer.” Awww… we love that! What makes the recognition even more meaningful is that Ms. Stagg has never even met Mr. Cruz; she chose to honor him after hearing from students about his outstanding teaching and his inspiring robotics program. Mr. Cruz was touched by the surprise shout-out, sharing, “Thank you for the recognition and reminding me that our hard work and dedication to make a difference in our students’ lives does not go unnoticed!” Moments like this remind us that excellence echoes – sometimes far beyond the classroom walls.
Ms. Stagg’s connection to Franklin runs deep: She is in her 18th year volunteering as a counselor with College Match, including 16 years working directly with Franklin juniors and seniors selected for the program. Through helping students with college applications and essays, she has gotten to know students in a uniquely personal way and describes them as “smart, thoughtful, and endearing,” while also praising the support of Franklin’s college counseling team. She has seen how Franklin coursework prepares students for top colleges. She also sees firsthand how the financial awards that the Foundation provides can make a real difference at college decision time and beyond and says she will “always feel a great connection to Franklin High.”
In short: Ms. Stagg shows up for Franklin, year after year. If this inspires you to give, and maybe even give in someone’s honor, the Foundation website makes it easy to donate online through PayPal or by mailing a check, and each option includes a place to recognize an educator, mentor, or community member who made your Franklin story brighter.
